The boulevard of art

2019-01-23  •  Jason Kennedy  •  North district

The general objective of the project is to be able to generate a work space where artists and artisans can earn a living while promoting expression through art, whether through workshops, shows, exhibitions, craft booths, mimes, dance, painting, poetry ...

The boulevard would have 14 permanent booths which would be rented by the Board (monthly, weekly, fortnightly...) for different events (handicrafts, books, gastronomy of other towns and countries, flowers...).

The booths could have energy in a sustainable way, in addition these booths could take advertising of the shops of the neighborhood to save expenses as much as possible.

The project contemplates a Mural of Expression where, monthly, graffiti painters or whoever wants to express themselves. Each month would be bleached with the complicity of the neighborhood. These samples of street art could be the object of some report by workshops so that this ephemeral art could be captured in an annual exhibition.

It also contemplates a stage for neighborhood groups (charangas, orchestras, monologues, magicians, puppets, dance, theater ...), so as to create a meeting space between artists, artisans and neighborhood.

COMMENTS:

We present this project with the illusion of being able to carry out together with the neighbourhood collectives, a space where art overflows in every corner of the boulevard and thus recover a space that has been damaged in recent years.

Not only would it give work to artisans, but it would also dynamise the area and rescue it from the state of deterioration in which it finds itself.

The support of the Town Planning and Employment Committee is requested because it touches areas of them.

Book bank

2019-01-23  •  Tiffany Castro  •  North district

After an initial observation in the libraries of the district's public schools, it is concluded that there is a need for renewal and expansion of reading and study materials for students.

In order to make this investment more fruitful, it is proposed to create a single BANK OF BOOKS for the area, whose maximum cost does not exceed 5% of its budget, and whose function is the classification and control of the material in the lending process.

This BANK will be managed by the district. It will have to divide the material in as many groups of public institutes in the district, for its later loan. This loan will be for a specific period (such as a school year). At the end of this period, he will be responsible for collecting the material, seeing which should be replaced, and sending it to another center. The idea is to take advantage of existing resources and that the logistics does not prevent the project from carrying out, not exceeding 1% of the game.

As for the material, it would be divided into 2 groups;

A first group of educational reading. (That serves to work in different areas such as equality, diversity, etc.)

A second group of text. This group would include different subgroups such as encyclopaedias adapted to different ages, 3 or 4 work books in the classrooms,...so that from an early age the students learn to look for information, taking care of the books, and possessing an area of study.  In this section, digital media can be carried.

Sustainable social economy project

2019-01-23  •  Joe Sanders  •  North district

It is proposed the creation of a market where neighbors can exchange objects (barter), would not be a selling market, nor with the existence of donations, nor would there be any profit, only exchange of objects without the presence of money. And in order to do so, it is requested that part of the public space in the Children's Park be adapted with the urban furniture necessary to make this market where barter can be carried out between the neighbours.

The necessary urban furniture would be tables, benches and a closed space to store materials that will be used in the barter market.

This proposal is created due to the lack of public spaces destined to the neighborhood meeting, to improve the social economy of the neighborhoods and to continue with the work that the collectives and the neighbors of the district of Chamartín had been doing in the barter market that was carried out in the park of Gloria Fuertes.

The estimated value of investment in this proposal would be around € 5000.

Shade trees in squares

2019-01-23  •  Judy Garrett  •  North district

Plant shade trees in squares that are now mere stone deserts or lack them, so that they can be used by neighbors as small oases in the city and contribute to clean the environment and lower high temperatures in summer. To provide them with sufficient land and irrigation so that they can live and develop (and not remain like sad skewers). Choose species that work well in this environment.
